Blackfang formerly of the black hand was created by blackfang

Its been a long time since i saw this game, i remember i used to play in beta but for some reason i suddenly forgot about it x( Well i was a member of the black hand back in the beta and altough i dont remember which system i was in i remember sir paradox from way back but thats the only name i can remember:( Either he was the one who pushed me and my comrades out of our system or he was the one on the system i came to after that. Sorry paradox if you read this and i cant exactly remember. I was more or less a beginner so i only had my superior skilled fighters and inferior models. I saw a lot of action being on the frontlines even with my little one system empire. Now i am wondering is this game still active:O?

EDIT: also has there been a cleanup on the forum since back in the beta:O?
EDIT 2: Also what happened:O? You released the game in open source?

Hey Blackfang, good to see you back.
A lot has happened over 4+ years. After going live around 09 (i think...), Dark Sky closed up shop early this year (11), but they released the code to the public. The community is now running the server and making some improvements to the game.
There's more in the works, but that's about all I can say for now

Check in regularly and feel free to post ideas!

Well i don't really know about any improvements, i mean it was pretty fun. Except for me lagging behind when someone invaded the system and you can guess what happened. So dark sky is gone:| Damnit, their BP was and the SA seemed pretty fun. Ok i know what i am going to post, i mean i dont mind massive empires of players having played for instance for a year will have a huge advantage but i still want to feel useful when i have played a month, i don't mean super useful, just useful enough to be a minor irritation for more experienced players and not shooting practice like i was back then:P

Also another question, i mean i have read the threads but how exactly did the black hand fare in the end?

We're certainly looking into ways to make new players not feel sooo inferior!

I was in the Black Hand for a bit during the beta, so I did follow them closely when they went to live. They did pretty well at first, bumped everyone out of the system they started in and started to rule from there. However, they got pompous and started ordering people around. That's when Dominion made their first major aggressive act and with help from the Qua'Sha Conclave was ground into the dust. They were allowed to continue, but most dropped out. Megatron, who had left before all of the pompousness, renamed and hung around here and there. The Black Hand itself never really regained any sort of system control to my knowledge.

Its too bad about black hand but i guess thats the way these kinds of games work.
So how is this private coding working out?
