Would you prefer server continued to run while there was a bug that caused all morale to drop to zero and populations to tank and colonies to pop, or would you prefer it stay offline while that was fixed and DB rolled back to just before DT?

You never progress in research, credits, or anything else while the server is down.

I think people assumed that the server continued to accure credits and research because the GNS continues to make reports about the status of Various colonies.

The GNS reports come from the mail server which is loaded when pri is brought up, have to start pri to test the bug fixes.

I'm pretty sure that's from startup attempts. You can see how many hours they're apart.

I see my people complaining about taxes as usual. Their world in the grip of a patch-corruption-induced cataclysm and their god threatening to wipe them out in favour of backup people and still it's the taxes they worry about
