Latest Patch Notes - 16th December 2009

Patch Summary
NOTE: Some features were omitted due to not being ready. We intend to patch additional features in tomorrow's downtime.
  • Players are now able to rename units en-mass via the Multiple Selected Units interface.
  • Many fixes to Alias permissions, when you didn't have them, better alerts and limited views.
  • Many corrections and fixes to what a user sees when they lack the rights to view an alias user's units.
  • Many drop down boxes have been expanded to the maximum possible for the more involved users.
  • Many fixes and refinements to the rendering, moving, and resizing of all game windows.
  • Removed a few 'gotcha' moments where you would be stuck in a state you did not want. Example: No way to cancel Orbital Bombard reticle.
  • Added Wormholes to the Command Management list. No more hunting down a wormhole on the 3d map.
  • Senate prop V2: All goto environment via name boxes now support adding on the Planet roman or numeric value.
  • Corrected a serious client delay when selecting hundreds, or more, units.
  • Fixes to many Shortcut clicks, Waypoint clicks, Unit Ctrl-Group clicks that would have the camera load facing South not North.
  • A few workarounds put in place to reduce the 'Nvidia Ring' crash
  • New game interface Unit Goto
Agents
  • When closing the Agent or Enemy Agent window, any open popup showing Interrogator stats will close.
  • Changed "Show My" and "Show Enemy" buttons on the agent form to a simple option selector reducing confusion.
Aliases
  • Sorted the Alias and Given Alias list by player name.
  • Previously any alias player could view and attempt to modify formations.
  • Players with rights to move units can still see formation settings, but not save changes.
  • Players lacking move rights can't view your formation config.
  • Since Aliased users can't withdrawal guild funds, the buttons are now grayed out.
  • Since Aliased users can't rename units, the rename box is locked out.
  • Aliased users lacking "View Units" rights can no longer use the Command Management window.
  • The Battlegroup window will now alert you and play a sound if you lack rights. Previously nothing happened to inform you.
  • The Self Destruct button is now grayed out if on an alias.
  • Added an alert when an aliased user attempted to bypass or throw back special tech research, as this was not allowed but visually appeared to function.
  • The delete key no longer offers a confirmation to dismantle a unit when aliased.
  • Aliases lacking View Units rights
  • Can no longer see 2d map indicators.
  • Can no longer see objects on the minimap.
  • Can no longer see the fog of war, lighting, and city street creep around structures.
  • Can no longer see radar blips.
Available Resource, and Contents Windows
  • When changing from Space Station to Space Station the Available Resources and/or open Contents window will now handle the target change better and load in a timely fashion. Previously users would simply cycle the interface a few times.
Budget
  • The Environment Attack Alert indicator was moved right slightly so it no longer overlaps an expansion indicator for that Star. Therefore it's now clickable.
  • Added a Cash Flow delta indicator. This shows how much your income level has increased or decreased since the last cycle.
Build Ghosts
  • Fixed rotation selection when building in space.
  • Fixed the queue so when you shift click append an existing engineers facility build queue, the proper ghosts disappear as they finish.
Build Queue
  • Added a summary "Build Queue Count" e.g. "Build Queue (190)" or "Build Queue (Empty)"
  • Doubled the size of the build queue list.
Camera
  • Put a fix in place to prevent a user from scroll wheel zooming so close to a planet the camera would invert.
  • Put a similar fix in place on the galaxy map.
  • Fixes to many Shortcut clicks, Waypoint clicks, Unit Ctrl-Group clicks that would have the camera load facing South not North.
  • Some workarounds put in place that limit the Ring crash.
  • Environment List and Galaxy Control goto star
Senate Proposition "V2" - You can now type the full star name and desired planet Roman numeral or Numeric value to go directly to a planet, if it exists. e.g. Aurelium 2 or Aurelium XVI

Options
  • Added option to enable - disable the alert message when you change camera views.
  • Added option to disable rendering of planetary rings.
  • Added option to disable aoe explosions.
Trade
  • When selecting an item to sell, the quantity input is automatically filled out.
  • Trade income is now sorted by income even if you have less then the max 20 cutoff.
  • Corrected a bug that would prevent any subsequent new trades from alerting the player once any initial alert was sent.
  • Corrected a bug that made it impossible to read the "They Are Offering" section of a Direct Trade when you initiated trade but the other party counter offered some player intel or technical readouts.
  • Added a header row to the "You are Offering" and "They Are Offering" section listing item Count and total Quantity.
  • History and InProgress tabs now preserve scroll position.
Routes and Templates
  • The maximum displayed width of any route name or route template name was width expanded to now fit the maximum allowed length of 20.
  • Corrected an exploit that allowed players to set a route destination of a foreign players Units or Facilities to get their prototype name.
  • Routes and template entries for a "Wormhole" now lists "Wormhole To StarName"
General Window fixes
  • Overhauled the resize code to prevent window silliness. Rapid size changes, chat window size changes, etc.
  • Added a limit of 1024 to the resized limit of any window.
  • Drop down combo boxes will now drop 'up' if they are close to the bottom of an interface.
  • Refined the window move redraw code so dragging an interface around the screen is smoother.
  • Refined the rendering of text boxes into a bulk render to increase fps performance.
  • Complete and total Overhaul of the Mouse Down - Up - Click events for Buttons, Checkboxes, Option Boxes, Scroll bars.
  • The long time bug where you would mouse down on one button, and mouse up elsewhere now does as expected.
  • If you were to mouse down on a button and slip your hand just slightly over the form, the form thought you wanted to move it. e.g. The Dismantle Button, or Repair Button.
  • Expanded Drop-Down Height
  • The Repair window now auto positions itself to the right of the Contents window if present. If not it does it's usual centering.
  • Increased drop down size of "Formations" on the multiple selected units interface display.
  • The Colony Research and Production Research management windows are now height resizable.
Keys
  • The End key now centers your cameras rotation.
  • The F key now opens the new Unit Filter interface, which replaced the Damaged and Undamaged buttons on the Multiple Selected Units interface.
  • The G key now opens the Unit Goto interface.
  • The R key will now open the Routes window if the AI Behavior window is present.
  • Ctrl-Shift-S now selects all units of similar name. NOTE: Ctrl-S still selects all units of the same type as any currently selected.
Miscellaneous
  • Fixed a bug with the Environment List that caused backspace and other keys to not work after you changed environments.
  • Fixed a bug with the Environment Shortcuts renaming but changing the selected item before confirming.
  • Naval Ability 2 no longer allows constructing in Lava or Acid.
  • The Drop down for "Formations" and "Based On Range" have had their height expanded.
  • Closing the Orbital Bombard selection window will cancel the selection.
  • Implemented a fix when you open the Repair Unit window on a foreign player created ship.
  • The Battlegroup window now sorts by Fleet Name.
  • Added Wormholes to the Command Management list. No more hunting down a wormhole on the 3d map.
  • Alt-Tabbing away from the game, and back caused the Alt key to stick showing Radar-Weapon ranges, etc.
  • The Mineral Research window will now auto position itself to either the left or the right of the main research form instead of randomly centered.
  • Changed Unit Arrival alert messages from Blue to Green as they could easily get lost if you were doing many tasks, changing environments.
  • Fixed the tooltip window when you hover over a mineral cache so the tooltip will no longer appear outside the window.
  • The unit details for a foreign units no longer says "Unknown Unit". It will now display the Hull type.
Email
  • The email details form for Waypoints now includes a count.
  • The attached waypoints section on the email composer now includes a waypoint count.
  • Successive replies no longer prepend "RE:". No more "Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Greetings"
  • Replies no longer include the entire message, but only the last users message.
Troubleshooting
  • Added more informative text what a user should do on repeated failed connection attempts.
Unit Goto
  • Access this interface by pressing the blue -> indicator on the Single Selected Unit options, Multiple Selected Units interface, or pressing G.
  • You can now quickly instruct one or more units to goto any location in your current solar system.
  • This means you can go from any location, even somewhere on a planet, to any other location within the current solar system!
  • Options include
  • Go near this celestial object, at a defined distance, coming from a defined direction.
  • Go into atmosphere of a planet, with options to select in a number-pad like display generally where to go.
  • Go to a local wormhole and Jump it.
  • Go to any relevant player made shortcut
  • An option box allows you to quickly set the first selected unit to send you the Alert upon Arrival messages.
